Description
This qualification is from the Community Services Training Package. Workers in these occupational groups work in residential facilities and carry out activities related to the maintenance of an individual's wellbeing through personal care and/or other activities of living. These workers may provide services to individuals with complex needs, and/or work with groups of older people. Work may include training and support to promote independence and community participation. This may be provided as part of activities and programs in a variety of settings including residential and centre-based programs. These workers report to service managers and liaise with professionals and other service providers. Workers may be required to supervise and/or co-ordinate a limited number of other workers. Workers at this level are required to have an understanding of Indigenous culture and history and to work with local communities in the provision of services.

Subjects
Core: Provide services to an older person with complex needs; Support the older person to meet their emotional and psychosocial needs; Plan and monitor service delivery plans; Undertake administrative work; Utilise specialist communication skills to build strong relationships; Deliver and develop client services; Work within a legal and ethical framework; Plan and conduct group activities; Maintain organisation's information systems; Implement and monitor OHS policies and procedures for a workplace; Maintain an effective work environment. Electives: Train small groups; Provide care support which is responsive to the specific nature of dementia; plus more.
