Description
This qualification is from the Community Services Training Package. It covers workers who develop and co-ordinate programs for young people through a range of community-based programs designed to address the social, behavioural, health, welfare, developmental and protection needs of young people. This work may be undertaken through employment in community, government and welfare agencies and will be responsible for implementing policies and guidelines of the employing organisation. Workers at this level are required to have an understanding of Indigenous culture and history and to work with local communities in the provision of services.

Compulsory: Work effectively with young people; Provide care and protection to young people; Support young people to address their circumstances; Provide appropriate services for young people; Apply a community development framework; Utilise specialist communication skills to build strong relationships; Work within a legal and ethical framework; Facilitate co-operative behaviour; Respond holistically to client issues; plus more. Electives: Process and maintain workplace information; Orientation to the alcohol and other drugs work; Identify and respond to children and young people at risk of harm; Assess and respond to individuals at risk of self-harm or suicide; plus more

Entry Requirements
Certificate III, or equivalent; or Year 12; or proof that the applicant can complete the course; or mature age entry. Trainees require relevant employment and a training contract. Entrance requirements vary between providers.
