Aged Care and Counselling

Duration: 10 - 12 hours max 6 months

Do you work with, or want to work with the ageing and elderly? Is someone you love experiencing difficulties as a result of the physical and psychological impacts of ageing? This comprehensive course will provide you with the knowledge and ability to sensitively and ethically provide support and address the needs of the elderly.

•Learn theories of ageing and understand the physical and psychological impacts of ageing.
•Develop an awareness of the nature and scope of support services, including counselling, for the elderly.
•Become aware of the range of counselling techniques and learn how they can be applied to specific grief and loss situations, and develop strategies for counselling an elderly person who has been diagnosed with a debilitating or terminal illness, or who has lost a loved one.
