Description
This qualification is from the Animal Care and Management Training Package. It is the industry qualification for persons operating at a junior or assistant level and undertaking animal technology functions within a scientific environment. It is highly recommended that whilst undertaking this qualification, the learner should have access to an animal technology workplace through either paid employment or a period of work placement or work experience.

Subjects
Core: Provide food and water for animals; Participate in workplace communications; Carry out institution containment and exclusion procedures; Conduct euthanasia of research animals; Monitor and maintain animal health and wellbeing; Provide behavioural enrichment for research animals; Carry out simple breeding procedures; Work within an animal technology institution; Prepare for and monitor anaesthesia in animals; Process and record data; Perform aseptic techniques. Electives: Operate specialised machinery and equipment; Assist with surgery preparations; Maintain the laboratory fit for purpose; Perform basic tests; plus more.

Entry Requirements
Access to relevant workplace. Some providers require year 10 or mature age
